Bob Berry Biography

I grew up in eastern Pennsylvania and have lived in Texas for the last 19 years and in upstate New York before that.  I've been married to Carolyn for 24 years and we have two older children.  Meghan is studying nursing at Covenant in Lubbock, TX and Todd is studying chemical engineering at Texas A & M.  I'm currently working as an electrical engineer for IBM focused on POWER series microprocessor test and characterization. I've been with IBM in the test field for the last 31 years after graduating from Clemson University in South Carolina.

I started collecting insulators about forty years ago and am somewhat of a general collector with special interest in threaded glass CD's (worldwide), CD 160 "baby signals, colored porcelain and early "classic" porcelain.  Both Carolyn and I have been active in local clubs hosting many "Christmas party" back yard swap meets initially with the CDIC (Capital District Insulator Club) in New York and now with the LSIC (Lone Star Insulator Club) in Texas.  In 2006 along with Jim Bates and Jack Roach we hosted the NIA National show in Austin.   I make an effort to attend all the local shows and the yearly National show (23 and counting).  I enjoy doing insulator displays and have also done a number of talks on insulators to local organizations with historic interest.

I've been the webmaster for www.nia.org since its creation in 1998 and am always seeking content input for the website or ideas for improvement.
