The McMicking insulators were made by Hamilton Glass in Ontario for use on a telegraph line which was to be built ahead of the CPR railway in 1876. However, the Canadian government decided on a more southern route for the railway and the stored line materials were never used. A collector in the late 1980’s discovered the site and hundreds of McMickings were recovered, making them the most affordable threadless insulator. Thanks to Mark Lauckner for this history. Note the various sizes based on the glass used in the mold.
