The hosts are Howard & Linda Banks of Crown Jewels magazine, and Steve Watkins who hosted the 1990 National Show in Portland, OR. Support staff for the event will include members of the NorCal (Golden State) Insulator Club and the Jefferson State Insulator Club, and additional northwest collectors.

The location will be the Lloyd Center Double Tree Inn in Portland. The hosts have secured luxurious, double sized, hotel rooms (almost 400 square feet) that will be available July 2nd through July 8th 2008 for just $89 per night (plus tax). (Just so you know what a deal that is, if you were to rent one of those rooms today, you’d pay $210 per night.)

The hotel is located immediately adjacent to the Lloyd Center Shopping Mall, the largest in the state of Oregon. It is conveniently located off Interstate Five and Interstate 84. Access from the Portland International Airport (PDX) to the door of the hotel is available via Portland’s Max Train for the grand sum of $2.00 per person. Use of the Max Train from the hotel to and throughout downtown Portland is free. An RV park is conveniently located just 10 miles away immediately off I-5.

The show room is 17,000 square feet in size and will accommodate 127 sales tables and 40 exhibits.

Sales tables are $45 for the first table and $40 for each additional table. The hotel is charging extra for electricity at the rate of $10 per table.

Information about the banquet, and special events will be forthcoming. However, making reservations for those activities are not as crucial as securing your sales table.

A major attraction for the 2008 Portland National will be a special combined exhibit of every threaded and threadless CD known to the hobby. The owners of many of the ‘one of a kind’ insulators…. Butch Haltman, Tommy Bolack, and Ron Yuhas… have given their support to this exhibit. Due to the NIA’s policy of not announcing the 2008 show until this time, we have not made an attempt to contact additional owners of “one of a kind” pieces; but will be doing so during and after the 2007 National. With everyone’s help, the 2008 National will likely be the one and only time examples of all known North American threadless and threaded insulators will be on exhibit in one place at one time!
